LIFE IN STEIN:

SKIING

by Markus Koch | Sports teacher

Schule Schloss Stein not only imparts knowledge, but also promotes pupils’ personal development through a range of activities, including skiing. The international diversity of the student body, especially from countries such as Mexico and China, enables many to discover this sport locally—something that would not always be possible in their home countries.

A special highlight of winter at Schule Schloss Stein is the Steiner Ski Cup, a shared weekend including a race between Altsteiner and current Steiner. In doing so, former pupils not only share their love of skiing, but informal conversations also arise and a unique bond is created between the generations.

Skiing offers not only physical activity, but also a sense of freedom and self-development in nature. Overcoming challenges on the slopes strengthens self-confidence and fosters important skills such as decision-making and risk assessment.

Furthermore, skiing helps to strengthen togetherness between pupils and teachers or Educators. Shared experiences create natural social interactions that go beyond the classroom and strengthen social bonds within the school community. Many conversations during the time spent together promote understanding between the generations and create a supportive environment.

Experiencing sporting challenges together on the slopes brings the school community closer together and contributes to a positive school climate. Skiing at Schule Schloss Stein promotes not only pupils’ individual development, but also the building of a strong, supportive community beyond the ski season. It is a tradition that unites international diversity, a sense of connection to the school, experiences of nature, freedom, and self-development.
