Markus Koch | Ida-lena Zoglmann
The P-Seminar “Sport & Environment” of the students of Schule Schloss Stein experienced an instructive excursion to the Unternberg near Ruhpolding under the direction of Mr. Koch. The aim was to raise awareness of alpine dangers and simultaneously acquire practical skills in dealing with avalanches and their extent.
Each participant received their own avalanche transceiver set, consisting of a beacon, probe, and shovel, to prepare for the course. On the mountain, a real-time deployment and handling simulation for an emergency was conducted. An avalanche was simulated, during which the students performed an avalanche victim search. In addition, the students were informed about the risks in the mountains by an experienced instructor from the mountain rescue service. Overnight accommodation was provided in the self-catering hut of the mountain rescue service on the Unternberg (approx. 1,450 m altitude).
The P-Seminar excursion offered participants an intensive experience in the beautiful alpine environment of the Chiemgau. Having mastered the challenges, the students returned with a deeper understanding of the mountain world and a strengthened sense of connection with nature.
