Winter wonderland was the name of the game on the first weekend after the Christmas vacations. The sun was shining over Stein, the sky was Bavarian blue and the freshly fallen snow glistened fantastically. Of course, weather like this has to be used for outdoor activities.
Some of the students traveled with Mr. Matyszok and our trainee Benjo to go skiing on the Steinplatte. They even got up at 6.30 a.m. for this, made a quick run to the bakery for refreshments and rolled out of the yard at 7.00 a.m.
Everyone else had a leisurely brunch before heading to Traunstein at 11 am: There, for the 3rd time, there is an ice rink in the middle of the city park as part of the “cult winter”. The exercise really warmed us up. The beginners had just as much fun as the advanced skaters. And that’s what it was all about in this case. Afterwards, there was still time to explore the city and do some shopping.
There was no sun in Traunstein, but there was first light and then very heavy snowfall. What could be more inviting for an extensive snowball fight than thick snowflakes? This happened first in the city park and again at the train station. Even the teachers were not deterred from throwing the odd snowball.
Back in Stein, we were able to enjoy pure sunshine again. We simply had to get out again in this weather and enjoyed a long walk in the snow.
Later, a batch of muffins was baked for the coffee.
Winter can still go on like this. Hopefully! Because skiing is at the top of the list of activities over the next few weeks. Be it at the Winter Olympics in Sudelfeld, the winter sports day or floodlit skiing in the evening. And then hopefully at the ski camp in the carnival vacations. May the god of winter weather be with us!
