One weekend, two sports, and many encounters: On June 20 and 21, 2026, the first Altsteiner Summer Sports Weekend took place, organized by the Altsteiner association together with Schule Schloss Stein. Tennis on Saturday, golf on Sunday – and in between, plenty of time for conversations, shared meals, and reuniting with old and new faces.
The tennis tournament on the Steiner tennis court kicked off the event on Saturday. Under bright summer skies, numerous students, together with the Altsteinerinnen and Altsteinern, took to the court. Doubles matches were played, cheering and conversations took place on the sidelines, and everyone caught up on the years that had passed. For the former students, it was also a wonderful opportunity to return to a place that holds very special memories for many. Particularly delightful was the presence of sporting ambition, but equally important were the fair exchanges and the many encounters between generations.
After the tennis tournament, everyone cooled off in the canal and then enjoyed a cold drink on the sundeck. In the evening, the scent of grilled food wafted through the Schloss courtyard, and everyone ended the day together under the open sky. During the spontaneous Hitster evening that followed, groups were mixed, and suddenly it was helpful to be familiar with music from different decades and genres. The team led by Mr. Ziegler was certainly able to showcase its strengths here. To conclude, everyone watched the Germany match together on the large projector screen – under a starry sky and with a suitably good mood after the victory.
On Sunday, golf enthusiasts traveled to Hart near Chieming. From 9 AM, Altsteinerinnen and Altsteinern, current Steinerinnen and Steiner, families, young talents, and golfers from the region gathered at the Golfclub Chieming. After a Bavarian breakfast in the Clubhouse, the teams headed to the course for an 18-hole scramble. In the high summer temperatures, not only sporting skill was required: the Golfclub team provided welcome refreshments on the course with chilled drinks and ice-cold microfiber towels.
After the golf round, everyone met again on the clubhouse terrace for the award ceremony and a shared dinner. We were particularly pleased with how warmly we, as Schule Schloss Stein, were received by the entire Golfclub Chieming. The organization was excellent from the first tee-off to the last shared drink – for this, we extend our sincere thanks to the entire team of the Golfclub.
And even though the weekend came to an end, one thing remained above all: the wonderful feeling that the connection between the school, current students, and our former Steinerinnen and Steinern functions across generations. This weekend was designed precisely for that – and that is why we are already looking forward to the next round.
“On June 20-21, 2026, we organized the 1st Altsteiner Summer Sports Weekend with a tennis and golf tournament together with the school.
On Saturday, an exciting tennis tournament took place, where students and Altsteiner played together on the court. We ended the day after a cool-down in the Mühlbach behind the Herkerhaus with a wonderful evening in the Schloss courtyard.
On Sunday, a great youth golf tournament with around 80 players followed, in cooperation with the Golfclub Chieming. A varied supporting program with a Weißwurst breakfast and a successful barbecue evening ensured a great atmosphere. The participating young people were invited by the Altsteiner association.
Our sincere thanks go to the organizing teams from the school and the boarding house, as well as all those involved who made this special weekend possible. We are already looking forward to the continuation next year! The date will be announced early – we call on all Altsteiner to mark it in their calendars in good time.“
