On Steiner Wiesntag, everyone was able to wear the traditional clothing of their home country. In this way, different cultures came together and created a special atmosphere from early on in the day. In the evening, an entertaining competition began in the Club at 7:40 PM, with five teams of two people each. Across five different games, the teams could collect points, which were added up at the end.
The event began with beer stein holding. Participants had to hold a beer stein with an outstretched arm for as long as possible. The boys held a stein filled with water, while the girls held an empty one. Whoever lasted the longest received the most points.
The second game called for teamwork and dexterity. One person held a playing card in their mouth, while their teammate had to touch the card with their mouth as well and then move back again. Within the time limit, this had to be done as often as possible without the card falling. Successful touches were counted. This game prompted plenty of laughter among both participants and spectators.
Afterwards, there was a short break so everyone could recover before the competition continued.
In the third game, participants had to slide a beer stein across a table. At the end of the table there was a wooden board. The aim was to slide the stein as close to the board as possible without touching it. If the stein touched the board, the attempt was invalid. Above all, this required judging one’s own strength correctly.
The fourth game was reminiscent of traditional Bavarian finger wrestling. Two participants from different teams sat opposite each other and hooked their middle fingers together. Both tried to pull the other person over to their side. Alongside strength, the right technique was also crucial.
To round things off, there was a Bavarian dance. Participants had to imitate typical movements, such as lifting their legs and slapping their hands on their thighs, shoes or soles. Afterwards, it was assessed which team had performed the movements best. The dance provided a lively finale to the competition.
After the final game, all points were added up and the winning team was determined. The varied tasks demanded strength, dexterity, teamwork and a sense of rhythm. Finger wrestling and the Bavarian dance in particular suited the occasion perfectly and brought Bavarian traditions closer to the participants.
All in all, Steiner Wiesntag was a cheerful evening in which both the teams and the spectators had a great deal of fun. Traditional clothing from different countries and the Bavarian games made the day a special shared community experience.
