On October 18 the Harter Open took place at Golfclub Chieming. The tournament is aimed at golf novices, so-called rookies, and is intended to provide them with an uncomplicated introduction to the sport of golf. The special feature: every rookie is paired with an experienced golfer, with whom they alternate shots. This allowed participants to get to know the sport in a very practical way and gain their first experiences on the course.
It all started at 1 pm on the driving range. There, the first tee shots were tried out and participants familiarized themselves with the equipment. Perfectly organized by the golf club and its team, the event then moved on to the nine holes of the magnificent golf facility.
Schloss Stein was also represented by a colorful mix of students, staff, the school and boarding school management, Altsteiner and parents of Altsteiner. Head of School Mr. Ziegler played with the Vice President of the golf club, Bruno Crones, while Mrs. Ziegler played with Altsteiner father Christoph Schnelle. Altsteiner mother Petronella Schnelle was on the course with Altsteiner board member Philipp Frauendörfer. School Principal Mrs. Koch swapped her teaching role with her former student and Altsteiner Maxim Binder, and our school secretary Mrs. Roth played with Altsteiner Moritz Ostermayer. Several of our students were also involved: Uli Kammergruber (8th grade) with golf ace Luis Wehner (13th grade), Lennox Brandl (10th grade) with Jacob Blösl (9th grade), and Leopold Carls (8th grade) with Altsteiner Luis Schnelle. Deputy Head of Boarding School Christian Matyszok completed the group together with a dear acquaintance.
In typical autumn weather, initially foggy and gray, then bright sunshine, everyone spent a wonderful day on the golf course in Hart near Chieming. In addition to the initial golfing experiences, social interaction was certainly not neglected. After the game there was an exchange of stories, laughter and banter. A delicious platter of traditional snacks with all kinds of delicacies and a venison goulash provided the perfect culinary conclusion in the clubhouse.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Golfclub Chieming and its team for their hospitality and excellent organization. Special thanks go to our experienced golf partners, who introduced the rookies to the sport of golf with great patience and joy and made their start easier. It was wonderful to see how our school family comes together across generations, learns from each other and grows together. We warmly congratulate the winners and look forward to seeing everyone again soon!
