For us at Schloss Stein Boarding School, scholarships are a significant instrument for promoting equal opportunities in the education system. The Steiner Scholarship Foundation enables talented students from financially disadvantaged families to gain access to our high-quality educational offerings, which would otherwise be denied to them.
Anna Lang, current scholarship recipient at Stein:
“I skipped many grades in primary school and was supposed to attend a secondary school at just 7 years old. Finding a suitable Gymnasium willing to accept me so young was not easy, so we turned to Mr. Ziegler – after a short letter of motivation and a school psychological certificate, it began! Now I am already in my eighth year here.”
Through scholarships, we at Stein can admit a greater diversity of students, which fosters social learning. Students from different social, cultural, and economic backgrounds benefit from each other, strengthening their social competence and understanding of diversity in society.
Sebastian Ziegler, General Director:
“We find that high-achieving applicants with interesting additional skills gain school and life experience that can never be acquired in the public sector.”
Additionally, a scholarship often opens up better future prospects for those supported. For many scholarship recipients, their time with us means a significant social and economic advancement that would be unattainable without financial support.
Scholarship recipient Gordon Kunkel, who achieved the best Steiner Abitur this year:
“My time in Stein was the most exciting three years of my life. I was particularly shaped by the unique place, but above all by the people who made Stein what it is.
I am proud to be an Altsteiner!
I owe the opportunity to have this experience entirely to the scholarship, for which I am infinitely grateful. It motivated me to always do my best and achieve the very best grades.
My future plans include studying Economics/Management either at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania or at Tsinghua University in China. I will receive the final answer to my applications in early 2025. I am currently on a gap year in Japan to learn the fascinating language and learn more about the culture.”
Overall, scholarships at Stein contribute to ensuring that talent and potential are not limited by financial hurdles. They promote individual and societal development equally.
Anna Lang, scholarship recipient:
“I have been able to develop personally very much at Stein – and socially even more. It wasn’t always easy, but I still received a milestone award this year.
Stein is not a normal school; Stein is a family. Everyone knows everyone, and there is virtually no distance between the different age groups. The class community is strengthened simply by the fact that most people have breakfast, lunch, and dinner together every day. Stein is a great place with many wonderful people.”
Applications should be sent directly to the Stein Scholarship Foundation – they apply exclusively to boarding school places and are awarded to students residing in the Federal Republic of Germany. The scholarships are always partial scholarships, which can vary greatly in amount. We always look forward to numerous applications & are excited to see who else will join us this way in the coming years.
