Markus Koch | Ida-lena Zoglmann
The P-Seminar "Sport & Environment" of the students of the school Schloss Stein experienced an instructive excursion to the Unternberg near Ruhpolding under the guidance of Mr. Koch. The aim was to raise awareness of alpine dangers and at the same time learn practical skills in dealing with avalanches and their extent.
Each participant received their own avalanche transceiver set, consisting of a beeper, probe and shovel, to prepare them for the course. On the mountain, an avalanche was simulated in real time for an emergency situation, with the students carrying out an avalanche search. The students were also informed about the risks in the mountains by an experienced mountain rescue instructor. They spent the night in the mountain rescue service's self-catering hut on the Unternberg (approx. 1,450 m altitude).
The P-Seminar excursion offered the participants an intensive experience in the beautiful alpine surroundings of Chiemgau. After overcoming the challenges, the students returned with a deeper understanding of the mountain world and a strengthened sense of connection with nature.
