"Living together" is a defining concept at the boarding school Schloss Stein . We attach great importance to the fact that students, teachersand also our teachers and other employees live (and grow) together in a harmonious community. This is also how Sebastian Ziegler , the overall director, now lives in third generation lives with his family not somewhere near the boarding school, but on the school campus. This close-knit community creates a family bond that shapes everyday life at Schloss Stein . This supportive environment and open communication promotes positive interaction between all Steiner.
Joint activities in sport, culture and leisure strengthen togetherness and promote intercultural intercultural exchange. At Stein , pupils from a wide variety of cultural and living environments come together - creating a lively, diverse and mutually supportive community that is crucial for a positive school climate and successful learning and growth.
Our teachers and Educator are at the heart of Steiner boarding school life. They lovingly look after the well-being of the pupils, supporting, encouraging and inspiring them. Through their empathetic and dedicated approach, they create a warm and familiar atmosphere in which the young people can feel at home. With their care and understanding, they make a significant contribution to the personal development of each student.
We are grateful for their great commitment and dedication, which make boarding school life at Stein something very special.

"Living together in an international community means that students learn to take responsibility for actively shaping their own lives and overcoming borders in the process."
Christian Matyszok | Pedagogical Director
Following extensive renovations over the last six years, the school offers modern rooms for a comfortable living experience. Spacious 2-bed rooms are common, A-level students can also live in single rooms if they wish. All residential groups have common rooms and service apartments for the teachers.
The boarding school campus offers a supportive environment for social interaction and open communication, while at the same time respecting the students' privacy. In addition to the living quarters, residents have access to modern leisure facilities and sports facilities which strengthen togetherness and promote intercultural exchange.
Subjects and timetable are of course different for each pupil and each class level. Basically, however, a normal day at Schloss Stein looks like this:
08.00 a.m. | 2 teaching units
09.30 a.m. Break for a snack, a relaxed second breakfast with a large selection and the opportunity to meet the boarding school management and teachers.
09.50 hrs | 2 teaching units
11.20 a.m. | Short break
11.30 a.m. | 2 teaching units
13.10 hrs | Lunch from our highly acclaimed kitchen. Also vegan or vegetarian on request.
1:35 p.m. | School assembly: 15 minutes for organizational matters, program adjustments, special honors, introduction of new students and birthday children.
from 14.00 hrs | Inclination groups, further lessons or group activities.
At Schloss Stein, activities outside of the traditional school routine play an important role. This gives our Steiner students an unparalleled variety of opportunities to try out a wide range of different areas and to discover and develop their inclinations and talents in the so-called "inclination groups".
Sport is important for young people in many ways. It not only promotes physical fitness and health, but also social skills such as teamwork, fair play and respect. In addition, sport offers a meaningful leisure activity and helps to reduce stress and boost self-confidence. By participating in sporting activities/competitions, young people also learn important life lessons such as perseverance, goal setting and dealing with defeat, which will also benefit them in other areas of their lives. For these reasons, everyone must take a "Club" sport course in addition to their PE lessons.
We offer an outstanding infrastructure for this on our premises. Not only were we pioneers with our state-of-the-art sports hall with ASB glass sprung floor, but we also have a spacious sports field as well as a grass playing field and a beach volleyball court. We are also very proud to have our own climbing hall. This is equipped with a variety of routes to challenge both beginners and experienced climbers. Following a recent renovation, our fitness room has been given a new lease of life, equipped with a wide range of cardio and strength equipment as well as crossfit units.
In the winter months, we benefit from our geographical location. As soon as and as long as the snow conditions allow, we offer alpine skiing several times a week. Here you can learn to ski, improve your skills or simply share this great passion with us.
Further sports options:
An education in the arts is crucial as it fosters creativity, expression and emotional intelligence. It enables students to develop their talents in areas such as music, art & culture and to develop their personality holistically. It also contributes to the development of teamwork skills and self-confidence, which is essential for personal growth.
Our cultural offer:
Social commitment is very important to us. It not only promotes a sense of community and cooperation, but also teaches important values such as responsibility, commitment and solidarity. It also actively contributes to the safety and well-being of society and enables participants to gain valuable skills and experience that will help them in their personal and professional lives.
Craft subjects enable students to put theoretical knowledge into practice and learn completely new skills.
Fresh, healthy and regional dishes are the focus of our kitchen, which prepares breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner every day (including at weekends). Our kitchen team of around ten people spoils pupils and the entire castle community with high-quality dishes, which can also be vegetarian or vegan on request.
The historic dining rooms are not only a place of enjoyment, but also a special meeting place for our lively community. Whether in everyday life or at celebrations and events - the kitchen team at Schloss Stein is dedicated to creating special culinary experiences that everyone will remember for a long time.
The boarding school Schloss Stein is not only a place to learn, but also offers pupils the opportunity to gain intensive social experience. A particularly valuable element of this are the community weekends, which create a close bond between the young people and their supervisors. Over the course of the 2024/2025 school year, seven official and two unofficial of these weekends will take place - specially designed periods that enrich everyday life and create unforgettable experiences.
Activities range from sporting events and exciting excursions to the annual scavenger hunt, theater trips and a social media workshop with an ex-Googler to festive highlights such as the Advent market and the winter ball. The focus is not only on fun and relaxation, but also on promoting important skills such as communication, empathy, conflict resolution and teamwork.
Community weekends offer a valuable opportunity to reduce tensions, strengthen friendships and build cohesion. Through shared experiences away from the classroom, students learn to support and trust each other. These intensive social experiences promote personal development and create lasting memories - in line with our motto "Growing together".
For us at Stein , the focus is always on the relationship: entering into regular but also informal relationships with the young people, i.e. engaging in conversation and encouraging growth. Here, we agree on specific development goals based on the young person's initial prerequisites and the expectations from the teaching content and pedagogy. The goals include the student's entire personality, the lessons, and topics for the study period as well as extracurricular activities and are set by the older students themselves; for the younger students, we naturally support the process with concrete suggestions.
We all work together: There is a regular exchange between teachers and boarding school educators; this involvescoordination and feedback on the target agreements. The different levels of discussion are individual discussions with the young people, class discussions, individual discussions in the boarding school and group meetings, a weekly meeting as a place for exchange and agreement with a management presence and feedback to the pupils. Letters to parents are sent out twice a year with feedback on the status quo and suggestions for further growth.
